Andean condor

Vultur gryphus

Eats carrion, mostly deer and cattle.

Andes of Peru

The Andean condor is known to be a scavenger, feeding on the corpses of animals, preferably deer or cattle. The Andean condor is considered near threatened by the IUCN. It was first placed in the list in the USA in 1970. Most of the reasons why the Andean condor is endangered included loss of habitat, secondary poisoning from animals killed by hunters, etc., and it is threatened mostly in the northern areas where it lives; it has gone through considerable decline in these certain areas like Venezuela.
